Families in New Cairo usually have the same three questions after a baby arrives: when should the aqiqah happen, what animal is acceptable, and how does the meat reach the people it is meant for. This guide answers all three for New Cairo specifically, including delivery timing from our farm in El Shorouk.
When to hold the aqiqah
The sunnah is the seventh day, counting the day of birth as day one — so a baby born on a Saturday has an aqiqah on the following Friday. If the seventh day passes, scholars widely allow the fourteenth or twenty-first day, and many permit it at any point afterwards. Families in New Cairo commonly book the slaughter for the morning of the seventh day so the cooked meal is ready by the evening gathering.
What animal is accepted
An aqiqah animal must be a sheep or goat that has reached one year, is free of visible defects, and is healthy. The traditional practice is two animals for a boy and one for a girl, though one for a boy is also considered valid by many scholars. We only allow animals from 45 kg upward into aqiqah orders, which is why aqiqah pricing starts at 13,660 EGP for a whole sheep and 13,860 EGP for a whole goat, with halal slaughter, cleaning and preparation already inside the price.
How the meat is divided
The customary division is three parts: one for the family, one gifted to relatives and neighbours, and one given as charity. We can prepare the animal whole, in halves, in quarters, or cut into cooking-ready pieces, and split it across more than one drop-off so the charity portion does not have to pass through your kitchen first.
Delivery to New Cairo
New Cairo sits directly on our delivery spine — the Fifth Settlement, Tagamoa, Katameya and the compounds along Road 90 are all covered. The drive from our farm in El Shorouk is roughly 25 minutes outside peak hours. We deliver in two daily windows, 10:00–13:00 and 16:00–19:00. Gated compounds usually need a resident name and unit number at the gate, so add them in the order notes to avoid a wait.
